I Said “WHY”.

I Said “WHY”

I’m like that “I said Christmas” kid. A lot of us at college are simply being called to the principal’s office for a ‘hearing’ when we question something. I still can’t believe this happens so many years after school. My freedom of expression is violated. I hate engineering colleges!

    Join the club.

I can’t comment about the subject for fear of prosecution from my own college. This is like Myanmar.

  2. Adithya Says:

Poor fellows. My college is nothing like that!

  3. Marc Says:

Yet yours is an engineering college and a sister institution of Food’s college.

  4. Adithya Says:

Haha food was supposed be in my college but as usual he got cheated.

  5. Arun Says:

You were cheated too. Only that your course study saved you after a year because there was no instrumentation course offered here and there was biology to be taught. .

Marc, so true. Actually, we are no better off than Myanmar. There, at least student organize protests against restrictions. Here, only one or two editorials spring up in newspapers now and then drawing attention to the pitiful state of over hyped engineering degrees in India. As, George said somewhere we pay some lakhs, stay for 4 years in one place and get a degree in recognition of our sojourn.

  6. Marc Says:

Sorry your comment was too big to read so I didn’t.

  7. George Says:

Shit Marc, congrats on executing a tl;dr. A little more effort and you’ll fit in on 4chan just fine.

Ah Arun, but it’s up to you. You must make the difference, and Sathyabama (that’s where they had student riots, didn’t they?) had such a good chance and they botched it. But you know what? On the individual level it’s much harder to justify fighting for something that will not directly benefit you, especially if the risk of loss is so big.

  8. Arun Says:

Yeah, I know. But I hate to see those smug faces. They know exactly how helpless we are. They threaten with suspension if you read a book in a free hour! They call parents and say, ‘Your son needs counselling, he reads books not related to course subjects’. It’s worse than Corporal Punishment in schools.

  9. Marc Says:

No, it’s not worse than that but it’s still quite pathetic.

  10. Adithya Says:

Actually we weren’t cheated. They moved us to the other campus after a year like they promised. They told us we will be there for a year and we were. But you guys still haven’t moved so you are the ones who got cheated.

  11. Arun Says:

Adithya, enough. You’d probably say you fought with the Dean and got transfers for yourself and others. .

  12. Adithya Says:

Well we did fight with him but they would have transferred us there anyway. You people got cheated and you didn’t even try to fight your way out.

  13. Arun Says:

Fighting my way out involved coughing up extra money for this shitty degree which I wasn’t prepared to do.

  14. George Says:

You know, all of you guys, you should never have done engineering. It is clear as day, as a clear day anyway.

  15. Marc Says:

Thousands of unwilling people are forced into engineering every year.

  16. Adithya Says:

Arun, It isn’t fighting when you are paying them money.

  17. Arun Says:

You lot were just 20 odd people. Transferring them is not a big deal for them.

  18. Adithya Says:

They also transferred the bio-tech and genetic engineering students. They were far more than you.

  19. George Says:

Marc, thousands of people who will not stand up for themselves, or who don’t know better. Is it any wonder that you’re treated like cattle when you act like cattle?

  20. Marc Says:

George, you think anyone knew how crappy engineering was when we were back in school?

  21. Arun Says:

Adithya, for the last time, you had frigging biology to be taught. Who would they pack up along with the biotechs, you or me? They can’t have everything in that mouse hole of a campus, can they?

George is right in a way. People don’t stand up for something nor do they support it. They are chickens. All you need to frighten them is to cut their marks. They don’t understand that the college needs them more than they need it.

  22. Adithya Says:

They thought us biology when we were at Ramapuram campus too! If they wanted they could have just got a couple of new teachers.

  23. Adithya Says:

    taught* lol
